FAKE $ELL$ THESE DAYS.

Who else is tired?

Every single time I open either Instagram or Facebook, I’m forced into viewing content that is so clearly fake. From people who aren’t models, always posting random, out of context snippets of them laughing and pretending to be models, all the way to musicians who rap about things they, or anyone they know, have never experienced like gun crime and police brutality.

Social media has become fiction and the fact of the matter is we should be better than this. I’m by no means perfect, but I refuse to partake in activities that should have ended on the day you heard your school bell ring for the last time, and you graduated.

I’m trying to be better each day, to raise my standards and my value within the world each day, its been a long journey but one I’ve had to chose to take alone, rather than fall to the mercy of movements such as “Unapologetically Me” which encourages narcissism. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for self-confidence and self-improvement, but I’m tired of the way these pure concepts are tainted by social media influencers monetizing these agendas and their audience, whilst serving their audiences an image of perfection; ironically, trying to sustain such an image must be tiring.

I’ve had to learn to become my own solution and so my response to what I consider to be a societal issue, is to do real, to be authentic, vulnerable, happy, sad, human, to be myself. I really hope I can encourage the same in you. “Fake sells these days but fate wanted more for you and I, for us to prosper and multiply.” I believe being fake keeps you in a cycle of needing to impress others and always falling short, which you most definitely can also experience when being real. The difference is, when you are authentic, you can overcome that cycle because you stay true to yourself, not true to who society or others expect you to be.

“I’m tired of the fake, so lets do real”
